We are excited to finally reveal a project we’ve been working on for the past few years in collaboration with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and Università degli Studi di Milano.
➡ The project was aimed at developing a proposal for the development of a feed consumption database using a standardised feed classification system. This report offers a comprehensive overview of the main feed databases, including their structure and the classification of feed materials, while also highlighting their limitations and potential. It compares these databases with FoodEx2 and outlines proposals for future updates to FoodEx2, as well as the development of a more robust feed consumption model database.
📌 A proof of concept was demonstrated through two case studies, focusing on genetically modified feed and feed contaminants, where the ToxHub team was mainly involved.
